James “Dutch” Connick, Founder and President
Dutch Connick brings more than 35 years of experience in public affairs, advocacy and government relations at the local, state, and federal levels.
As founder of Connick & Associates, he represents municipal governments as well as private-sector clients across Louisiana, advising on strategy, policy development, and legislative priorities.
Dutch has built a deep network of relationships in Baton Rouge, Washington, D.C., and throughout the parishes he serves. His clients range from parish governments to companies and interests in infrastructure, energy, coastal restoration, and healthcare. They trust him to have their voices heard, their calls returned, and their key priorities met.
His focus is on getting results through strong relationships and clear, thoughtful strategy. In 2025 alone, he helped secure $120 million in capital outlay funding for his parish clients. He also led a recent pro bono effort that delivered $300,000 for the New Orleans Jazz Museum modernization.
He advises on all aspects of engagement with state and federal officials — monitoring pending legislation and regulations, arranging meetings and appearances, and lobbying agencies to solve his clients’ problems. His experience in both the public and private sectors gives him a valuable perspective and makes him a credible voice in policy conversations. In every case, his approach is to listen carefully, work collaboratively, and advocate with purpose.
Dutch is a registered lobbyist at both the state and federal levels, including with the Louisiana Legislature and the U.S. Congress. He is a proud father of three, grandfather of seven, and a steadfast supporter of his high school alma mater (Archbishop Shaw), his grandchildren’s sports teams, and his local community.
